MASA Assist - USVI Medical Air Coverage
Our USVI office is proud to offer affordable air ambulance coverage and peace of mind for every member on the island. Each membership provides a variety of life-saving benefits, as well as a financial safety net when emergency strikes. Everyone is eligible for a MASA Assist membership. There are no deductibles, claim forms, age limits or questions about your health.
Memberships Available
Basic Membership
When emergency strikes, you will be flown to the nearest hospital capable of providing appropriate treatment. This membership does not allow you to choose which hospital you end up at. Oftentimes, this means you’ll be flown to another Island, like Puerto Rico.
U.S. Direct Membership
U.S. Direct includes all the same benefits as Basic, but also gives you the option of being flown to a hospital in South Florida. Essentially, this is the first tier of coverage that allows you to choose a location, even though it may not be the nearest option. With the U.S. Direct Membership, you have the choice of being flown to any hospital in South Florida.
Hospital of Choice Memberships
These options provide you with more control and choice when it comes to choosing specialized medical centers for treatment. Each Zone covers a specific area, offering access to the hospitals, medical facilities and doctors within. If you are interested in receiving care at a specific hospital within the United States, please refer to the accompanying map for clarification on which Zone it is covered under.

*The MASA Assist Family Membership in the USVI covers you, your spouse and dependents up to the age of 26.
Zone 1 (Z1)
Zone 1 allows members the choice to be transported to any hospital within the Southeastern United States.
Zone 2 (Z2)
Zone 2 provides emergency air coverage to the Southeast, Midwest and Northeastern parts of the United States. This membership gives you the opportunity to choose many incredible, world-renowned medical facilities.
Zone 3 (Z3)
Zone 3 is the highest tier of MASA Assist Membership. All emergency flights within the United States and Canada will be covered under Zone 3 (except Hawaii). This gives you access to all hospitals within the continental U.S. (including Alaska) and Canada.

Just-In-Case Cash
MASA Assist will provide a $1,000 cash benefit directly to the Member should they require air transport by air ambulance.
Worldwide Emergency Ground Ambulance
A Member can extend ground ambulance coverage benefits worldwide by providing MASA Assist with notice of travel plans.
Spouse Return
Should a member utilize one of MASA’s emergency benefits, MASA will return the member’s spouse via commercial air to the airport nearest to the residence.
Paramedic Assisted Commercial Flight
If a Member is in a Medical Facility away from home, MASA Assist will arrange for a Paramedic to accompany the Member during a commercial flight to a Medical Facility on the island of the Member’s Residence with treating physician approval.
Minor / Grandchildren Transportation
MASA Assist will arrange to fly a Member’s Minor Children or Grandchildren while under the Member’s care to the nearest appropriate medical facility capable of providing needed treatment when emergency specialized treatment is not available locally.
Rehab Center Transportation
MASA Assist will reimburse a Member for their travel to Rehabilitation Centers, Skilled Nursing Centers and Hospice Settings from an inpatient medical facility after emergency air transportation.
Terminally Ill Transportation
MASA Assist will arrange to fly a Member should they be terminally ill to the suitable airport closest to a Medical Facility near the Member’s Residence via scheduled commercial air.
Helicopter Transportation
MASA Assist will arrange to fly a Member to the nearest appropriate medical facility capable of providing needed treatment when the Member needs emergency specialized treatment not available locally.
Concierge Service: Worldwide Medical Referral
MASA will assist traveling Members with referrals to local medical professionals.
Concierge Service: Legal Referral
MASA will assist traveling Members with referrals to local legal professionals.
Concierge Service: Translation Services
Should a member suffer a medical emergency in a foreign country, MASA Assist will provide a qualified professional to translate concerns to medical personnel.
Concierge Service: Lost Luggage Assistance
MASA Assist will assist with the tracking of luggage lost in transit.
Concierge Service: Emergency Travel Arrangements
MASA Assist will assist with changing reservations (airline, hotel, car rental) as necessary.
Concierge Service: Emergency Message Relay
MASA Assist will arrange for emergency messages be relayed to traveling Member’s family.
Concierge Service: Monitoring of Treatment
MASA Assist will arrange for ongoing hospital updates to be relayed to traveling Member’s family.
Concierge Service: Travel Document Replacement
MASA Assist will assist with the replacement of US passport or US Visa from US authorities for a traveling Member.
Pet Return Transportation
If a Member suffers a serious medical emergency which leaves their pet unattended, MASA Assist will make sure that your pet(s) are returned home.
First Year Satisfaction Guarantee
MASA Assist will reimburse a Member’s first year of coverage if they should be dissatisfied with the services provided.
Enhanced Companion Expense Reimbursement
If a Member requires air transport, MASA Assist will reimburse travel expenses for a companion on the flight. Reimbursement is now increasing from $300 to $600.
Enhanced Visitor Transportation
MASA Assist will arrange the air transportation for a person of the Member’s choosing to visit if the Member is hospitalized away from home an extended period. "Extended period" is now decreasing from 7 days to only 5 days.
